These are risks that act transversally affecting the safety and health of the worker and encompass the interactions between the individual and the surrounding work environment.

Indoor environments (enclosed, confined spaces within buildings) are the places that present the greatest issues:

  • Dwellings
  • Community facilities (hospitals, schools, hotels, nursing homes, barracks, prisons, etc.)
  • Public and private offices
  • Venues designated for recreation and/or social purposes (restaurants, bars, shops, cinemas, theaters, gyms, etc.)
  • Public transport (airplanes, ships, trains, buses, etc.)

However, it is wrong to think that only indoors can issues of a transversal nature arise, as this is a risk influenced not only by the physical component of the workplace but also by the human component of interpersonal relationships and work organization.
